I'm back! 1/8/2018 1 Comment Many things happened this year and I have neglected my blog and my knitting work. In the last year I turned 40, I faced a difficult moving, my father got sick and spent a lot of time in the hospital and for 6 months I did not have a real home. BUT hey... I'm back! Finally we have realized our dream: a house in the countryside, a slow life full of little things we love. We worked hard to reach this goal! My purpose for this year will be to spend special attention to my work and do not have deadlines. I want to resume spinning and dyeing yarn, reviewing some of my designs in a different key, knitting for me some patterns by other designers that I love. So... there will be many news ... stay tuned! For now, happy new year to all ... 1 Comment New free pattern: Serenata shawlette 2/19/2017 6 Comments A few years ago, I came across five little sample skeins of Silk Blend Fino: a lush blend of merino and silk hand spun and hand dyed by Manos del Uruguay. I instantly fell in love with the warm shades of orange and gold, the delicious texture and the amazing softness of this light fingering weight yarn. It was a joy knitting this very easy shawlette with a such wonderful yarn! I want sharing this glee with all of you, hoping that you will have fun to knit your own Serenata with your favourite yarn... I'm looking forward to see your colour and yarn choice! Pattern info Serenata is an asymmetrical triangular-shaped shawlette worked sideways. The easy lace pattern is perfect to highlight semisolid, variegated and gradient yarns. Finished measurements (easily customizable) : 57½ inches/146 cm wingspan; 37¾ inches/96 cm along BO edge (after blocking). Material ♡ Approx. 480-580 yards/440-530 meters of heavy lace/fingering weight yarn. ♡ US6/4mm needles or different size to obtain gauge. ♡ darning needle. Gauge (after blocking) : 19 sts & 32 rows = 4 inches/10 cm in lace pattern. Different gauge will give different finished measurements. What is the Club? The Modish Mystery Sweater Club is an annual subscription for 4 brand new sweater patterns during 2017. How does it work? The Club includes 4 Mystery Knit-A-Long (MKAL), one for each season. Each pattern will be delivered in four parts (Clues). The first Clue (intro) will contain general info for swatching, yarn shopping and stash diving and will be available 2-3 weeks before the second Clue to start knitting all together! With Clues 2, 3 and 4 you will also receive a coupon code with an exclusive promotion for you. The promotion will be valid during the week following the Clue publication. Each Clue will be delivered via Ravelry as pattern update and will be available as individual download and as eBook with a special price (you must be logged into Ravelry to download the updates). The sweaters included in the Club may be pullovers, cardigans, tops and related in different yarn weights ( indicatively in a range between lace-aran weight yarns). All the sweaters in the Club are quite simple to do, highly customizable and easy to wear. Each sweater will be available in at least 7 sizes (XS to 3XL) to fit bust 28-30"/71-76cm to 52-54"/132-137cm. Releases (without photos) will be available in January , April , July and October 2017. Each full pattern will be updated approx. 2 months after the release of the last Clue. For those who would like to join the MKALs, there will be news, spoilers and pattern support in my Ravelry Group . Schedule Jan 2017- winter sweater MKAL - Snowbound MKAL already available also as individual pattern. Apr 2017- spring sweater MKAL July 2017- summer sweater MKAL Oct 2017- fall sweater MKAL The subscription is now open and available on my website and my Ravelry store . I hope to see you on Modish People Group! Ela xoxo 0 Comments Beautiful GAL projects. Week 3. 12/21/2016 0 Comments Third post celebrating the participants of Gift-A-Long 2016! Love, Ela xoxo 0 Comments How to customize your Keystone cardi 4/26/2016 0 Comments Spring/Summer cardigans are my favourite pieces and are very simple to customize! Did you saw Keystone in the latest edition of Twist Collective ? I think it's one of the most wearable patterns that I design! 1. The easiest thing to change is the sleeve length. I love to wear 3/4 or elbow sleeves. An elbow sleeve will make your sweater not only lighter, but also incredibly stylish, with a pinch of retro flavor. 2. A crew neck can become a wide neckline! Are you allergic to short rows and/or do you like a wider neckline? Using the middle size needle, cast on the number of stitches that you find after the first increase Row and directly work the Yoke Chart (skipping ribbing and short row section). Then follow the pattern as written! It's done! 3. Steek it! If you are afraid about a purling overdose, you may work your Keystone in the round and then steek. There are lots of resources for steeking online (you can also search directly on Twist Collective blog ) 4. Customize buttons/buttonhole band For my Keystone cardi I used big square buttons. You can easily adapt your buttonhole band with smaller holes for tiny buttons. If you want, you may add more holes to have a lovely band, full of very little buttons or maybe use magnetic buttons/clasps for an invisible closure. I'm looking forward to see YOUR Keystone! - all pictures © Fanny Lafontaine-Jacob - 0 Comments <<Previous
